Touring Musician Alert! Jimbo Mathus Incinerator Tour: The late Memphis producer Jim Dickinson once called Jimbo Mathus “the singing voice of Huck Finn.” Outside the South, Mathus is likely known as the ringleader of the hyper-ragtime outfit Squirrel Nut Zippers. In his native Mississippi and throughout the South, however, Mathus is the prolific songwriter of born-in-the-bone Southern music, the torchbearer for Deep South mythology and culture. Think Delta highways, bowling-pin Budweisers and “innerplanetary honky-tonk” for the masses. As Dickinson would say, ‘If you don’t like this, there is seriously something wrong with you.’” https://www.facebook.com/events/313490532897473/

Tuesday, July 23, 6-9pm:
Touring Musician Alert! Bettye Lavette at City Winery – Bettye LaVette is no mere singer. She is an interpreter of the highest order. Whether the song originated as country, rock, pop, or blues, when she gets through with it, it is pure R&B. She gets inside a song and shapes and twists it to convey all of the emotion that can be wrought from the lyric. To quote the late, great George Jones: "Bettye is truly a 'singer's singer'. https://www.facebook.com/events/271050923801975/

Touring Musician Alert! Ally Venable at Connect Live, Acworth – Dani Mac & Company opens – Texas powerhouse the Ally Venable Band is coming to Connect Live! She might only be hitting her twenties, but long-term fans will know this isn’t Ally’s first rodeo. Rewind to her childhood in the post-millennium and this rising star found her voice in church. It was the influence of fiery Texas guitar-slingers like Stevie Ray Vaughan, however, along with the melodic smarts of Miranda Lambert that showed her the path. https://www.facebook.com/events/307801693456053/
